Summit Leaders exists to create unique travel experiences that inspire vision and broaden the perspective of the leaders of today and tomorrow.

About Us

The idea for Summit Leaders came in 2001 as founder, Joél Malm, was climbing Mt. Elbrus in the Caucasus Mountains of southern Russia. On the final day of the climb, while stopped to reorient, Joél began to realize just how powerful experiences like this had been in shaping his worldview and perspective.  He felt a call to begin sharing these kinds of experiences with others by leading them on similar trips around the world.

Joél began Commission Expeditions an organization focused on taking young adults around the world on adventure trips. The vision expanded into what is Summit Leaders giving today and tomorrow’s leaders an opportunity to step out of their comfort zones, broaden their perspectives and see how they can expand their influence around the world.

Director

Summit Leaders is directed by Joél Malm. Joél was raised in Guatemala, Central America, is fluent in Spanish, holds a bachelor’s degree in international political science, a master’s degree in counseling and has extensive experience abroad in missions, world travel, and mountaineering. He and his wife Emily recently returned to the U.S. after living in Mexico and Peru for the past few years.
